The Designblok International Festival is fast approaching, and we are excited to be part of it once again this year. In addition to presenting a new exhibition showcasing this year’s innovations, we will be joined by prominent figures from the design world – the internationally acclaimed designer Ron Arad and Patrizia Moroso, creative director of the Italian company Moroso. Guests will also have the opportunity to experience the Re/Creation installation by Maxim Velčovský, presented by the Lasvit brand.
“This year’s Designblok is special for us in many ways. In close collaboration with Moroso, we extended an invitation to Ron Arad, a world-class designer who has been creating iconic pieces for the brand for over 30 years. We are thrilled that he accepted and will be the guest of honor for the entire festival. Alongside Arad, Patrizia Moroso, the company’s creative director, will also be visiting Prague,” explains David Řezníček, co-owner of Konsepti. During the event, Konsepti will showcase the latest products from Moroso, Kartell, and Nanimarquina in its Holešovice showroom. These three presentations will echo the spirit of Milan design.
The public will have the chance to meet Ron Arad and Patrizia Moroso during a panel discussion at the Designblok Superstudio on the Respekt Stage on October 2 at 1:30 pm.
The Italian company Moroso is a world-renowned manufacturer of designer furniture, with a tradition dating back to 1952. Since its founding, Moroso has specialized in creating innovative furniture that blends cutting-edge design, expert craftsmanship, and premium materials. Each piece is the result of close collaboration with renowned designers from around the world.
The One Page armchair by British artist and designer Ron Arad is a modern reinterpretation of the traditional armchair. Metaphorically, it mimics the dynamic movement of a sheet of paper being folded. Its form celebrates the sculptural poetics of its creator and showcases his precise craftsmanship. This visually striking piece combines functionality with the artistic concepts typical of the Moroso brand. "We are thrilled that the Ron Arad One Page chair, which was first unveiled at this year's Salone del Mobile, will be featured in our showroom. It's even more special since the designer himself, along with the company's director, will be present. It is a great honor, joy, and motivation for us," concludes David Řezníček.
In addition to the latest Moroso pieces, Konsepti will also showcase products from Kartell, another leading brand in its portfolio. For more than 70 years, Kartell has been known for producing designer furniture and accessories that combine innovative design with high-quality materials and advanced technology. A pioneer in using plastic as a primary material, the company places a strong emphasis on ecology and sustainable development.
One of the exhibition’s highlights will be the ASIA collection of seating furniture by Piero Lissoni. Kartell’s display will feature two armchairs and a three-seater sofa, all designed with perfect proportions and balance.
The entire Kartell interior presentation will be complemented by the A.I. LOUNGE armchair with its sleek, modern lines, the Geen A and Geen A Mini lamps, Thierry coffee tables with metal legs and gemstone-hued glass tops, the Multiplo table with a four-legged base, and the Teresa table lamp by Ferruccio Laviani, which emits a warm, pleasant light with graceful arches reminiscent of unfolding petals.
The creative genius of Eduardo Chillida, one of the most prominent fine artists of the second half of the 20th century, is captured in the unique Chillida collection by nanimarquina. The Spanish brand’s large-scale carpets and tapestries will be showcased in three stunning interpretations of Chillida’s works – Preguntas (1994), Gravitasión Tinta (1996), and Figura Humana.
Through the interplay of craft techniques, threads, and varying pile heights, these new designs capture the sense of suspension that Chillida sought to convey. His evocative artistic vision translates into textiles that reflect universal human experience, boundless and eternal in their expression. These rugs are handcrafted with precision, using materials like wool and silk and a variety of techniques.
